Social Imagination is CSC’s dynamic theatrical project that weaves together personal narratives and social justice concepts, evoking opportunities for dialogue, healing, and action. Our team of local artists have been working together since October, processing the last two years and the impacts of the dual pandemics: coronavirus and systemic racism.
We have been working with a variety of theatrical and embodied practices focused on racial justice and mental health. Some of these include Rainbow of Desire (a set of practices from Theatre of the Oppressed) and somatic abolition practices including exercises from Resmaa Menakem’s My Grandmother’s Hands.
We want to share our creative work with you via interactive livestream! There will be opportunities to connect with others and share your stories.
“We’ve come a long way from the cataclysms of 2020 and 2021 and now it’s time to get to work on healing,” said co-director and performer Justy Robinson. “This show is one way to do just that.”
Our beautiful cast of poets, dancers, writers and performers includes Justy Robinson, April Axé Charmaine of SOL VIDA, Micaela Iron Shell-Dominguez, Rachael K. Sharp and Niyankor Ajuaj.
Join us on March 18-19 @ 7 pm ~ March 20 @ 2 pm MST. Tickets are $10-$20 on a sliding scale. The performance will be live-streamed on YouTube so you can partake on your computer or another screen.
