Project Voyce // projectvoyce.org – Project VOYCE offers dynamic programming that prepares youth to become culturally aware leaders and effective advocates for social change. Their curriculum includes activities that enhance understanding of self and community through media-making and critical media literacy.
EPIC Arts Youth Program by RedLine // redlineart.org/youth-art-education-programs –Their youth art education programs encourage young artists in Denver schools to use art as their voice to speak about issues affecting their communities and their lives.
Platte Forum // platteforum.org –Platte Forum is an urban art and activism laboratory where established artists work side by side with young artists to create a body of work that is reflective of a global voice. Their mission is to use the arts as a bridge, connecting youth and artists with resources to reach their full potential.
Apprentice of Peace // aopyo.org – This organization offers programs, classes, and workshops designed to support youth on a path to becoming their best self, focusing on leadership, mentorship, and wellness.
Make a Chess Move // makeachessmove.org –MACM’s mission is to build a just society by developing tenacious learners, compassionate leaders, and ethically-driven critical-thinkers. They are disrupting the school-to-prison pipeline by developing the abilities of youth to reduce destructive decision-making and increase pro-social behavior in their schools and communities.
Street Fraternity // streetfraternityusa.org – SF’s mission is to provide a place of brotherhood and personal growth for urban young men. They seek nothing short of generational change, and aim to provide alternative pathways to success developing young men who are safe, independent, connected to their communities, and contributors to society.
El Sistema // elsistemausa.org –El Sistema works to ensure every child has access to high-quality music education that celebrates their voice and potential, by supporting a national network of organizations & educators.
Think 360 Arts // think360arts.org – Think 360 Arts is an organization serving K-12 schools and communities through direct services and creative experiences. Their mission is to engage Coloradans of all ages in innovative arts programming that inspires creativity, builds community, & advances equity so that all communities can experience the transformative benefits of arts education.
DITA // ditainternship.com – The Diversity in the Arts (DITA) Internship Program is dedicated to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the leadership of the arts & culture nonprofit community in Colorado. Interns work a 10-week paid internship at one of DITA’s host sites and are given tools to grow as advocates for DEI in their workplaces and beyond.
Manos Sagrados // manossagrados.com – Manos Sagrados is an independently owned events space for concerts, poetry jams, drag, and more. They also offer movement and meditation classes as well as affordable art studio spaces.
Red Line Contemporary Art Center // redlineart.org –RedLine Contemporary Art Center is a non-profit arts organization that fosters education and engagement between artists and communities to create positive social change. Located in the Five Points neighborhood.
Bird Seed Collective // birdseedcollective.org – Birdseed Collective is a community outreach organization that is dedicated to improving the socio economic climate of Denver, Colorado through innovative arts and humanities offerings. They have projects centered around youth, public art, housing, economic opportunity, food distribution, and healthy living.
Urban Sanctuary // urbansanctuary.love – Urban Sanctuary seeks to make yoga and wellness practices accessible to all. They focus on holding a fully inclusive space for healing and vulnerability through movement with a focus on social justice and transformation.
Sacred Voices // sacred-voices.org – Sacred Voices empowers BIPOC youth to find their voice, embrace their culture, become community leaders, and promote artistic expression in the Denver metro area. Sacred Voices hosts open mics every 1st and 2nd Friday of the month. Their Open Mics are family-friendly and provide an open platform that welcomes all types of artists.
Slam Nuba // slamnuba.org – The mission of Slam Nuba is to promote the creation and performance of poetry by cultivating literary activities and engaging community through the power of the written and spoken word.
Courageous Space // thecourageousspace.com – The Courageous Space is a diverse community in the heart of Denver’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. They offer sincere movement, meditation and connection practices with the intent of cultivating Courage.
Frontline Farming // frontlinefarming.org – Frontline Farming is a food justice and farmer advocacy group led by women and People of Color. They are engaged in food production and education along the Front Range on three different farm plots.
Whittier Neighborhood Association // whittierneighborhood.org – They are a Registered Neighborhood Organization who engages the Whittier community, hosts events, and keeps neighbors informed on issues that impact them.
Chic Denver // chicdenver.org – Collaborative Healing Initiative within Communities (CHIC) helps families break intergenerational cycles of poverty and violence by strengthening women and girls. They offer culturally-relevant, whole-family, female-focused supports that directly intervene in the systems that most frequently fail communities.
Soul2Soul Sisters // soul2soulsisters.org – Soul 2 Soul Sisters centers Black liberation as a response to anti-Black violence through eradicating white supremacy, actualizing reparations as healing & economic justice, building Black political power, and advocating for Black beloveds’ right to make decisions about their own lives, bodies, and futures.
City Records // IG: @cityrecordscolfax – City Records is a record, toy, and vintage shop on Colfax that hosts an open mic every third Friday gathering beatmakers, poets, rappers and emcees, instrumentalists, and producers.
The Glass Grove // theglassgrove.com – This space is a creative canvas to host everything from workshops, classes, comedy, wellness talks, co-working, music, and whatever the community can dream up! They host open mics regularly. Located inside the Free Market of the Dairy Block.
Gypsy House // IG: @gypsyhousecafe – Gypsy House is a cafe, event space, and community gathering space with an artistic atmosphere perfect for studying, creating and socializing. When last we knew, Community is the Cure has been hosting open mics here on the last Wednesday of every month.
The Corner Beet // cornerbeet.com – The Corner Beet is a vegetarian cafe that prides itself in its eclectic, bohemian vibe and fresh, local, and organic ingredients. They host an open mic every Monday.
Sapphic Collective // sapphiccollective.com – They offer events created for anyone who falls into the FLINTA* acronym.
