Kate Speer | Volunteer
Kate Speer is a dancer, choreographer, and writer based in Denver, CO. With almost a decade of arts administration, Kate started in the Philadelphia dance community as General Manager for Leah Stein Dance Company and Financial Coordinator for Mascher Space Cooperative, and has served as an intern for Headlong Dance Theater, the nEW Festival, Group Motion, and Here[begin] Dance. Currently, she does freelance consulting and grant writing for such high profile clients as Bates Dance Festival, Rennie Harris Puremovement, Gesel Mason, Michelle Ellsworth, and Onye Ozuzu. Within the past two years, she has raised over $300,000, which includes such competitive sources as the Map Fund, the Guggenheim Fellowship, and NEA Art Works. As a choreographer, Kate lives at the intersection of social activism and artistic production by merging theatrical storytelling with athletic, momentum-based movement in order to engage the audience’s visceral and emotional capacities. She produces her own work and dances for Gesel Mason Performance Projects.
