Get To Know Kerrie Joy:

Kerrie Joy is a poet, singer/songwriter, storyteller, educator, and revolutionary. Born in Brooklyn and raised on a church pew in Newburgh, NY, Kerrie brings her east coast flare and fervency to the stage for every single performance. The truth of her words and the power of her delivery have been said to lift her listeners out of their seats. It is that same magic that has brought her to stages such as the Red Rocks Amphitheater, TEDx MileHigh, the 2018 Denver Womxn’s March and MLK Marade, and many more. Kerrie channels her creativity through poetry, hip hop, song, short story, graphic design, and fashion. She uses these artistic mediums as vehicles to spread consciousness, inspire civic engagement, and plant seeds of self-actualization. Kerrie has partnered with organizations such as Project VOYCE, Tennyson Center for Children, Warm Cookies of the Revolution, Bro. Jeff’s Cultural Center, the American Heart Association, Clayton Early Learning, and more, to serve as an organizer of ideas through creative delivery. She teaches each audience how their individual creative offerings help fortify culture and build collective power when done in true collaboration…or as she likes to say it, she simply “do[es] dope sh*t with friends” and shares that magic with everyone willing.

Launching This Spring: CSC Community Leadership Cohort

Introducing the new CSC Community Leadership Cohort! Friday, April 30, the Spring 2021 Facilitator Workshop will launch a 6 month cohort rooted in collective care for racial equity and mental wellness. After the initial 20 hour workshop diving deep into the CSC 3 facilitation model integrating arts engagement, restorative practices, and social justice, participants will continue to connect and collaborate each week through a series of opportunities with the CSC Team and some extraordinary community partners.

In addition to weekly sessions, Cohort participants will have monthly meetings with a CSC facilitator to support their racial equity and mental health journey through accountability, mentorship, coaching, empathy, and other needs that may arise in the process. The 2021 Community Leadership Cohort (CLC) will culminate with a celebration in early November. Connections will continue to be nurtured through ongoing CSC programs including monthly Alumni gatherings.

The inaugural CLC will be a hybrid of virtual and in person engagements. The first 20 hours of workshop time in April & May will be via zoom. Weekly offerings will be a combination of in person and virtual formats beginning in June.

Our goals for this project include:

  • Increasing individual and collective leadership capacity to promote racial equity,
  • Reducing mental health stigma for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color through arts engagement and restorative practices
  • Increasing access to culturally responsive and relevant mental health resources, spaces, programs and events, especially for BIPOC
  • Build diverse, healthy relationships and networks activated for racial equity.

This program launches April 30th beginning with the Facilitator Workshop.

The dates of the workshop are:

April 30 4:30-8:00pm MST

May 1 10:30am-2:30pm MST

May 2 10:30am-1:30pm MST

May 7 10:30-1:30pm MST

12/10/2019 Colorado Gives Day | CSC Holiday Celebration

CSC Middle School Drum Class Performance

How beautiful to witness trees gracefully let go. As we watch them shed, awed by their bold bareness, we come to understand that even without leaves, a tree is still a tree. How comforting to share this truth, that we too can let go and still be. Here at CSC we’re embodying all this season has to offer, from profound wisdom, engaging and activating the poetry within through the hidden lessons turned metaphors, to the spirit of gratitude and giving.  Join us December 10th for #ColoradoGivesDay at Hapa Sushi to celebrate this beautiful season and our beloved team from 4-9PM, 20% of the proceeds will go directly to CSC community and youth programs. Please RSVP so the restaurant knows we are coming! Wether or not you can join us in person, you can schedule a donation today, or maybe #GivingTuesday, Dec. 3 is the right time for you, either way your donation supports CSC’s innovative arts and social justice programs, their sustainability, and our collective liberation! The great Maya Angelou said, “I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver.”
